Blemish + Age Defence is a targeted, oil-free approach for ageing skin prone to breakouts. How does SkinCeuticals Blemish + Age Defense Serum tackle adult acne differently to teenage acne?
Acne is a significant concern on its own, but when acne meets aging, skin damage is magnified. When adults are battling acne, they have a unique set of age-related concerns: Firstly, overactive sebaceous glands results in enlarged pores, secondly, the skin’s texture becomes rough, thirdly, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation can linger long after blemishes subside. Common stereotypes portray acne as the bane of the teenager: oily, blemished skin, exacerbated by overactive sebaceous glands, adolescent hormones, and less-than-ideal skincare routines. While adolescence is, indeed, a prime time for problematic skin, acne can persist into adulthood. In fact, acne affects 25% of adult men and 50% of adult women.

As an anti-ageing serum and blemish serum in one, Blemish and Age Defense is a powerful formula acne-prone skin. Our formula of LHA, Glycolic Acid, Citric Acid, Dioic Acid and Salicylic Acid is a unique combination. This highly efficacious combination targets excess oil and blemish prone skin. As an anti-ageing serum, these ingredients also target rough skin, fine lines and wrinkles.

Clinical results were seen as early as day 2, with Blemish + AGE Defence significantly reducing inflammatory and non-inflammatory lesions.
Additionally, Blemish + AGE Defence also reduced blotchiness and clogged pores for the entire duration of the 8 week study. (Baumann, L. Blemish + AGE Defence was proven as effective and tolerable as 0.025% tretinoin in both anti-ageing and anti-acne attributes - B+AGE produced statistically superior improvements in skin tone, evenness and clarity, and a reduction in blemishes and blotchiness.


As early as day 2, B+AGE provided improvements in skin tone evenness and clarity, skin smoothness, skin brightness, clogged pores, blemishes, and blotchiness. Parity was achieved between the two treatments in reduction of fine lines, clogged pores, tactile roughness, and dullness.

After 4 weeks, Blemish + AGE Defence was proven to statistically reduce the grade of PIH by 19%.

After 8 weeks, it was proven to reduce the grade of PIH by 36% and the number of PIH marks by 29%.
