SkinCeuticals Retinol 0.3 30ml
There’s very little that a retinol product won’t help with when it comes to skincare concerns. Fine lines and wrinkles are smoothed, skin tone and texture is evened, blemishes are reduced, radiance is returned and sebum production controlled. In other words : if skincare jail existed, retinol would be our one phone call out. Keep it on standby, it’s a good’un.
This retinol serum has a cream texture, and is the latest addition to the Skinceuticals Retinol family. Designed for those with very sensitive skin, or as a prerequisite to the use of a stronger retinol such as Retinol 0.5% and Retinol 1.0%, this will help your skin adapt to retinol before moving on to higher strength options.
Why is it important to start with a lower-strength retinol?
Retinol is an often misunderstood ingredient, and you may have even had experiences in the past which have turned you off retinol. It works by encouraging the turnover of cells, revealing healthy, fresh and more youthul skin underneath. However, move too quickly and you might end up looking more red-and-raw than glowy-and-gleaming. Your skin needs some time to adapt to retinol as an ingredient, which is why it’s important to start slow and build up. Even those who use plenty of other active ingredients, or who feel their skin is resilient should start small and build up. Don’t worry - you’ll still see results with a lower strength retinol, and you won’t be scared off due to adverse reactions either!
Who is the Skinceuticals Retinol 0.3% suitable for?
This retinol serum is perfect for anyone concerned with ageing, especially those looking for a retinol for sensitive skin, for those looking for a retinol for acne, or people looking for the best retinol cream for beginners. Fortified with chamomile to calm and with an encapsulated retinol to release retinol slowly and minimise the risk of inflammation in the skin.
How often should I use Skinceuticals Retinol 0.3%?
You’ll know your skin best, but in general we would recommend commencing use once or twice per week, always in the evening, after cleansing and before applying any moisturisers or other serums. Over time, you can add more evening uses per week - a good guide would be increasing by one evening per week. Best used on evenings when you aren’t using other exfoliating products such as AHAs.
How to use Skinceuticals Retinol 0.3%?
Apply a pea-sized amount of product to thoroughly cleansed and dry skin in the evening. Avoid the eye area to minimise irritation. For best results, don't use any corrective or moisturizing products the same evening as applying SkinCeuticals retinol.
Can I use a retinol while pregnant or breastfeeding?
Unfortunately, no. We wouldn't recommend using any retinol products during pregnancy or while lactating due to potential risks in passing the Vitamin A on.
Do I need to wear sunscreen when using a retinol?
It’s also absolutely imperative that you’re using at least SPF30 during the day while using a retinol.
As an ingredient, retinol side effects can sound frightening! While it does have the tendency to increase photosensitivity, SPF is your best preventative measure and will mean you're able to fully reap the benefits. On top of that, SPF is one of the most important skincare ingredients when it comes to anti ageing. Don’t waste your efforts by forgetting to slip on some sunscreen!
